Call for Faith-Based Leaders to Support Healthy Relationships

Stop the violence through prevention and awareness.

In December 2008 a State Grant from California Department of Public Health Epidemiology and Prevention for Injury Control (EPIC) Branch was awarded to Antelope Upper Room Ministry. The purpose of this grant is to provide training for faith based leaders, their leadership teams, and youth coordinators on awareness and prevention of domestic violence. All Faith Base communities in Antelope, North Highlands and Sacramento are being invited to promote Healthy Relationships.

Domestic Violence is prevalent in our communities. Domestic violence is the silent crime that tears apart families at an alarming rate. We see children being left helpless and in pain. A call is going forth for all Faith Base Leaders to support Healthy Relationships, through education and prevention. This grant will allow us to work in our communities to stop the pain before it starts. In addition, it provides the opportunity to provide resources to those that maybe victimized by domestic violence.

Antelope Upper Room Ministry, Family Community Church, Christian Life Family Worship Center and New Testament Baptist Church will be hosting a training seminar for Faith Base Leaders and their front line leadership to identify domestic violence. The seminar will be held on March 14, 2009, from 2pm-6pm at the Family Community Church, Pastor Bill Krause. Look for your invitation in the mail. For information call (916) 912-5111.
