On Saturday, December 20, 2008, the Antelope Upper Room Ministry
joined with Global Charter School Senior, DJ Pickett, to touch the
community with a "Time to Share". This was DJ's Senior Project and he
oversaw the entire thing. He attended planning meetings, recruited
fellow students to volunteer from community service credits and helped
direct the program, beginning to end. It was so touching to see the
smiles and the many gifts that were given out. A digital camera was
given away. Curling irons were given to the ,and new blankets and lap
blankets were given to some of the other guests.
We shared gifts, toys, toys and more toys; as well as a lot of food.
The program fed over 100 people and gave out more than 200 toys. We
witnessed the children eyes gleamed as their names were drawn to
receive things like a new bicycle or skate board. There were a number
of volunteers on hand, and they to were touched with the true meaning
of Christmas -"A Time to Share". The volunteers gladly shared their
time by setting up, serving and cleaning up; and they loved every
minute of it. This event touched a lot of families and a lot of hearts.

There was entertainment, too! There was a great puppet shows for
all, Classical Music by Ms. Yvonne and Family from El Dorado Hills, and
the New Beginnings Choir stopped by under the direction of Minister J'
On. It was such a great program and the true spirit of Christmas was
present . How refreshing to be involved in such a wonderful display of
kindness. In a time of economical turmoil and uncertainty, we find a
glimmer of hope shining in Antelope where the community reached out to
share with those in need.
Special thanks goes to Global Charter School, D.J. Pickett, Pastor,
J. Mason, Minister Reggie Green, Minister E. Brown, Odessa Baptiste and
all those that worked to make this event possible. We hope Global

Antelope Upper Room Ministry is a new church in Antelope that meets
on Sundays from 10:30am-12:30pm at the Global Charter School.
